The Jazz Ministers - Sekumaxa

barabara sounds sez:
A fantastic share dropped in the comments for King Kong by boogieman. I don't have much info about this particular album — it's from a CD reissue, but I'm guessing this is from the Jazz Ministers' heyday in the 70s, with Victor Ndlazilwana.
I'll post more details as they come available. In the meantime, thanks boogieman!

There's more from the Jazz Ministers over at the ever-excellent Electric Jive...
The great Nomvula's Jazz Dance and Ndize Bonono Na?

update (Aug. 2011)...
I've been getting a few more clues and background info about this excellent album:
It seems like it was first issued in 1975 on Gallo under the name 'Zandile'. There's a link to the original cover art here...

PS (Sept. 2011)
And now the original album has just been gone up on Electric Jive. Head over there now to snare this most excellent post! Lots more details about the personnel, who included the young Nomvula Ndlazukwane on piano and Johnny Mekoa on flugelhorn.

Hey taro nombei,
i never had the time to start a blog of my own as i am doing a lot of professional travelling and overseas work but there is a few albums I'd like to share. I owe a lot to blogs like yours, Orgy in Rhythm, Ish, El Goog Ja, Strata East Fan Club etc and I'd like to pay back.
Here is another album I'd never encountered on any blog. It's a band with Dutch / Finnish / Czech / Caribbean musicians. It's kinda hard bop with a afro-caribbean tinge. If you're into Strata East / Black Jazz kinda sound, you'll dig it. It's from 1994 and OOP to the best of my knowledge.
The Brand New Orleans;
Feel free to post it, I'd love this music to get wider exposure among bloggers.

If you're interested I have a few more up my sleeve but I'll have to post 'em in the next few days because I'll be travelling again soon.

Hi guys,

I've been looking for the Jazz Ministers for months now. Can't find it in Cape Town music stores. Can you please share with me the album with the tracks 'Sekumaxa' and 'Zandile'?

Thank you

@ Vaidos

You're in the right place here — both tracks are on this album.

It's just been pointed out to me that the Rapidshare link is down.
But the other links (such as megaupload) seem to be fine.

Seek and ye shall find. Search and the door will open up for you...

Thank you very much for this album, I have been searching for months for this. I was not sure that it was Zandile the album due the different artwork, but I knew Sekumanxa was on the same same album. It is impossible to find in SA
